Frustrated WEX User Claims Losing $11,000 Worth Digital Currency

The controversial trading platform, World Exchange Services (WEX) reportedly closed the account of one of its old customers, Kazin-BTCe, after the user deposited $11,000 in Litecoin (LTC). The frustrated customer wrote in a Reddit post that it was a mistake on his part to start trading on the exchange. He added that just after making the huge deposit, the exchange closed his account within less than an hour.

As shared in Kazin-BTCe’s detailed post, the exchange confirmed his deposit within minutes. However, before the deposit got credited to his WEX.nz account, he realized something was wrong. The user was waiting for the deposit to reflect in his WEX account when he learned that many of the exchange’s disgruntled users had been voicing concerns regarding withdrawals been disabled for weeks.

According to the user, no prior warnings were given by WEX.nz about facing issues with withdrawals or deposits.

Deposited Funds Irreversible – WEX Customer Support

When the WEX customer realized that the cryptocurrency transactions were irreversible, he reached out to the customer support department. He requested in his support ticket to refund his Litecoin (LTC) deposit. The exchange’s customer support responded by saying that all transactions were irreversible. This simply meant that the huge LTC deposit that he made was irreversible as well.

As mentioned in the CryptoGlobe report, the user said that to make matters worse, a customer service representative informed him that his funds aren’t available. He then tried to contact the crypto exchange’s customer support team several times but to no effect. In fact, the exchange had the audacity to threaten to permanently close his account if he kept opening customer service tickets.

WEX was previously known as BTC-e before it rebranded itself recently. Last year BTC-e was shut down by the U.S. authorities due to the exchange’s suspected involvement in money laundering.
