Two Spanish Institutions Conducting Research On Copyright Management For Blockchain

Two premier Spanish institutions are teaming up to conduct research into copyright management with respect to the areas of crypto technology and blockchain.

On the 26th of July, the Madrid School of Telecommunications Engineering and the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers declared that they were in a research-oriented partnership, aimed at finding new solutions to cryptocurrency copyright management.

According to news reports, the two organizations have entered into a one-year agreement. Both institutions would be carrying out research on a collaborative basis, aimed at developing a platform that can process digital copyright management. The platform aims to integrate blockchain technology along with other new innovations such as Artificial Intelligence.

“The main lines of research will focus on disruptive technologies that address the challenges posed by the volume, diversity, and dynamics of change in the use of content in the contemporary digital environment,” said José Miguel Fernández Sastrón, president of the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers when outlining the partnership to the media.

According to reports, the two organizations envision a platform that will inculcate these technologies to safeguard content on the web and prevent copyright abuse.

The Rogelio Segovia Foundation for the Development of Telecommunications or ‘Fundetel’ is reported to have hosted the signing of the contract between the two institutions. A new body of oversight has been created involving all three of these institutions, with the aim of supervising this joint research venture, reported by CoinTelegraph.

Meanwhile, Spanish-based banking group Santander had also announced the development of a research team to investigate the potential of crypto technology in its trading procedure.
