Segasec Reports Hackers Attack Renowned Ethereum Wallet MyEtherWallet For Over 300 Times

One of the most popular ethereum wallets named MyEtherWallet has encountered several attempted attacks by the intruding hackers more than any of the Fortune 500 banks. Specialized in offering cyber threat intelligence and prevention, the anti-phishing service provider Segasec has provided the protection to MyEtherWallet from the cyber-attacks and recording several attacks.

According to the cyber-security firm Segasec, it has combated over 313 active attacks since it has commenced working for MyEtherWallet. The firm has encountered an average of 30 to 40 attacks per week. Since the number is constantly increasing, MyEtherWallet is continuously sending reminders to its customers and making them learn how to store their funds safely. The firm further believes that entire platform security is very important apart from basic security measures which include login tools and private keys.

MyEtherWallet is among the top ethereum wallets targeted in the world of cryptocurrency. The CEO and co-founder of Segasec, Elad Schulman, shared the statistics saying that the platform has been targeted and attacked more times than more big businesses including high-profile banks and large financial institutions. Before the security project was handed over to Segasec, Kosala Hemachandra, founder of MyEtherWallet and his team used to look after the security part.

Later on, when the team started identifying a plenty of phishing attacks and its volume intensified, the task of handling the wallet became more critical. Then, Segasec was hired to primarily secure the platform and ensure the safety of users’ funds.

“We want our users to feel safe and we will do everything we can to make that happen, so partnering with Segasec is another major step towards safeguarding our users from malicious actors,” Hemachandra said, BCFocus published.

Phishing attacks may come in the form of malicious copies of their targeted sites over varied digital channels in Ethereum wallet and all these can appear through specific websites, Google ads, and also social media platforms, as reported by CCN.
