A blockchain event called ‘Blockchain: Unlock the Potential’ is served as that platform which promotes global collaboration for exploring the blockchain potential. A secure and efficient aviation system can be ensured through the blockchain technology. It is stated that the event will have 800+ individuals from 90 countries. The event provides detailed information related to the blockchain to the international aviation community. It is started on April 2, 2019, in Abu Dhabi. It will be continued until April 4, 2019.
The Director-General at GCAA Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi said, “Selecting the UAE is a testament to our leadership’s continuing efforts towards investing in new technologies across different domains including the aviation sector and in maintaining strong partnerships between the government and the private sector, and the continuous endeavours in exploring methods to improve aviation business practices in a dynamic and thriving environment.”
The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority at GCAA and the International Civil Aviation Organisation at ICAO co-organise the blockchain event. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan supports the event.
The aim of GCAA and ICAO is to speed up the blockchain adoption through the event. Speeding up the blockchain adoption through an entire aviation ecosystem is also their aim. The entire aviation ecosystem consists of aircraft, financing, business operations [record keeping, security, contracts management, and passenger experience], Emirates News Agency reported.
The Economy and Chairman Minister of the GCAA Board of Directors Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri said, “The UAE is continuing its leading role in the field of innovation, with its sustained performance in this year’s Global Innovation Index. The UAE is the top ranking country in the Arab world, according to the Global Innovation Index. We are honoured that ICAO has selected the UAE as the host nation of the first ICAO Blockchain Aviation Summit and Exhibition.
The expectation is that the global economic improvement will make the UAE aviation sector to grow high in 2020. On April 2, 2019, at the blockchain event, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi said, “We know that the global economy is not doing very well now and that would slowdown [the aviation sector in UAE] a little bit. However, we think that this will pass by 2020 and high growth will be reached,” Gulf News reported.[The views and opinions expressed in this article are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views and/or the official policy of the website. ]
