Actor and co-founder of VC firm Sound Ventures; Ashton Kutcher along with his business partner, Guy Oseary donated $4M of Ripple (XRP) to The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund on Ripple’s behalf at a live appearance on the popular “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Wednesday.
Kutcher, who donated a whopping $4M on behalf of Ripple explained that they had planned about the donation during a recent investor meeting.
So, we were meeting with these folks and [Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen and CEO Brad Garlinghouse] were talking to us about the ethics of this company and this platform and how they actually really care about being an ethical company and giving a portion of this platform away to people that are doing good in the world.
DeGeneres was pleasantly surprised by the gift, which Kutcher transferred live on the show using an XRP payment app. This goes to show Ripple and the cryptocurrency’s ability, in particular, to make cross-border transactions possible in a jiffy. All that the celebrity venture capitalist did was to press a button on his smartphone and the Ripple immediately moved from one wallet to another.
Kutcher has always been a vocal supporter of many blockchain technologies. Terming it as a platform, Kutcher said that transactions on Ripple is very simple as it allows individuals to transfer money from one bank account to another, and also from person to person easily, quickly and securely.

Meanwhile, Ripple is working hard to get noticed and is aiming at getting celebrity endorsements. It has donated millions of dollars worth of XRP to non-profit organizations in the past few months. Ripple recently donated $29 million in XRP for all 35,000 classroom projects on DonorsChoose, an educational crowdfunding website. This was the first time for the organization to receive such a huge donation.
